Job Description

Valero is on the search for energetic and motivated students to join the Valero Intern Program. The internship program has an opening for a Strategic Development & Public Policy Intern who is ready for new and exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

Major Accountabilities:

* Assists the Strategic Development Planning & Public Policy Department by researching current market trends, transportation and energy technologies and emerging business opportunities.
* Assists with providing analyses in areas such as energy policy, statistical, business and/or energy industry data.
* Assists in creating business cases and management presentations to support the development of strategic objectives and project the impact of investment decisions.
* Participates in special projects and initiatives as needed.
* Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field required.


* Overall GPA of 3.0 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale preferred.


* Graduation dates of August 2020 through May 2022 required.


* Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer required.


* Candidate required to live within commuting distance to San Antonio, TX.


* Knowledge and proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Tableau and/or Power BI.


* Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation required.


* Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications required.


* Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements required.


* Excellent oral and written communication skills required.


* Obtained at least 60 credit hours by the start of internship required.
