JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs a variety of routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments and assists with lab maintenance responsibilities. Salary Range From $33,760 to $42,000 annually. Specific Job Related Duties * Perform key lab support and management tasks * Independently conduct experiments, analyze and present data under the supervision of the PI * Use of cellular and molecular biology approaches * In vivo murine modeling of intestinal inflammation and enteric infections * Extraction and processing of organs * Isolation of immune cells from bone marrow and tissues using magnetic bead separation and flow cytometry * In vivo functional assays on immune cells * Cell cultures maintenance * Quantitative PCR * Gene expression studies, including RNAseq * RNAi tetchnology * Also entails analysis of data, active reading and interpretation of scientific literature and design of experimental approaches * Manage daily lab operations, including, but not limited to, setting up equipment, independently designing and implementing new organizational strategies to promote smooth lab operations, ordering, inventory, cleaning, preparation of lab reagents and husbandry/maintenance of mouse colonies and maintaining lab records * Train students and other staff as needed, attend and present in lab meetings and journal clubs, write and edit scientific publications * Comply with all standard operating procedures and quality control systems * Comply with any laboratory duties assigned by the PI Work Schedule Monday through Friday. Working in the evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Preferred Skill/Competency * Experience working with small animals * High degree of intellectual curiosity and self-motivation * Proficient technical skills and experience in molecular biology, immunology, inflammatory bowel diseases * Proficient in multi-tasking, including managing multiple projects and lab duties concurrently * Attention to detail and excellent written and communication skills * Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills * Computer proficiency to perform data analysis (e.g., MS Excel, SigmaStat, FlowJo), design presentations (e.g., MS PowerPoint), and conduct word processing (e.g., MS Word) is critical. Preferred Work Experience * Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in cellular immunology and/or molecular biology * Full-time experience in an academic research lab with prior publications * 1 year experience working with experimental animal models.
