The Accounting Manger will own key accounting processes that deliver accurate and timely accounting information for US Foods. Will provide day to day oversight of staff and champion the implementation of group initiatives, effective operation of internal controls and process improvements. Act as liaison with internal and external auditors and other third parties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead accounting teams to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial results for internal and external (SEC) reporting requirements through a robust monthly/quarterly close process.
* Supervise staff and senior accountants on your team, including assessing talent, recruiting and developing individuals to their full capabilities
* Facilitate a team environment of process improvement and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
* Review analysis of assigned areas and partner with functional leaders and field operations to ensure timely and accurate accounting, planning and related analysis.
* Lead and coordinate accounting research and analysis related to complex transactions and projects, ensuring proper and timely accounting positions are established in accordance with GAAP, SEC and tax requirements.
* Drive the SOX efforts in assigned areas ensuring prudent compliance and work with internal and external auditors as required. Proactively assess impact to company operations and actively coordinate with other impacted areas to provide appropriate control environment.
* Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, Treasury and M&A teams around compliance, valuations, acquisitions and divestitures.
* Design, document and implement financial controls, policies and procedures in response to changing regulations and/or business practices, ensuring consistent systems, processes related to units of account and valuations over related activities.
* Review analysis on key business drivers and leading indicators utilizing appropriate statistical capabilities available in current financial systems.
* Develop executive level presentations and communicates recommendations to gain alignment across functions and operations on strategic decisions and projects to meet company objectives.

SUPERVISION: Manages Accounting/Finance intern, FLDP Associate, Staff and Senior Accountants

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related analytical field required (or related experience)
* MA/MBA preferred
* Job relevant certifications preferred (e.g. CPA)

Related Experience/Requirements:

* 6 years of progressive relevant work experience; including experience in a public company or public accounting firm. OR 4 years of progressive relevant work experience with an MBA or MA in finance or accounting
* At least 1 year of people leadership (supervisor/manager) experience preferred
* Advanced skills using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Area specific requirements:

Financial Reporting

* Public Accounting audit experience required, preferable with a Big 4 or Second Tier accounting firm
* Experience reviewing and/or preparing financial statements and associated footnotes
* Working knowledge of SEC guidance and applicability to a public company registrant
* Working knowledge of consolidations preferred

General Accounting/OpEx Accounting

* Experience in completing a monthly/quarterly/annual financial close process, including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis of results
* Demonstrated ability to partner with non-Finance individuals to gather information and record appropriate results in the correct accounting period
* Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and maintain SOX controls over responsible area of supervision
