Temporary Assistant Designer, Print, Women's Apparel

Reports to

Associate Designer or Designer, Print

Overview

The Assistant Designer will support the Designer in the creation, development, and execution of own brand print artworks appropriate for the customer.

Responsibilities

* Place print artworks into industry standard repeat layouts utilizing Abode Photoshop and Illustrator
* Execute engineered prints and placements in garment sketches or patterns for developments
* Prepare and organize weekly development packages to be sent to the vendors
* Assist the Designer by CADing colorways to the seasonal color palette
* Create original artworks relative to the seasonal concept as directed by the Print Designer
* Update Web Pdm by uploading artwork images and print placements
* Support the Print Designer in researching seasonal print & color trends appropriate to the concept
* Organize and review incoming strike-offs in partnership with the Design Coordinator
* Facilitate communication and follow-up with Freelance artists
* Maintain inspiration boards, digital reference library, and original artwork archives
* Attend benchmark meetings as requested
* Perform special tasks as needed

Qualifications

* Technical knowledge of print design and textile techniques, dye types, and fabric qualities
* Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in fast paced environment
* Strong passion for apparel and textile design with the ability to recognize and translate trend direction
* Excellent communication skills to effectively work in a team environment
* Strong hand-painting and drawing skills to create original designs
* Proficient computer skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, knowledge of Web Pdm a plus
* Minimum: Internship - 1 year experience in the apparel or textile industry

Bachelor's Degree in Textile Design
