Preference will be given to researchers in the fields of algebra, number theory, and geometry, broadly construed, and within those areas to researchers who have the potential to work on interdisciplinary or computational projects. Outstanding candidates in closely related fields of pure mathematics who support the Department's strengths in other areas of pure or applied mathematics will be given strong consideration.

The applicant must have an earned PhD in mathematics or a closely related area, a strong research record, the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses, and the potential to supervise masters and doctoral students. Postdoctoral experience is preferred.

The University of Vermont is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. The University encourages applications from all individuals who will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. To that end candidates must provide a diversity impact statement as part of the application detailing how they will further the diversity of the unit through their research, teaching and/or service at the University.

The applicant must submit a cover letter, a CV, a teaching statement, a research statement, and a diversity statement. These application materials must be submitted online at http://www.uvmjobs.com, position number 003178.
