Purpose

Provide support for University Operations computer applications and reporting requirements.

Essential Functions

Conducting a full range of programming tasks including analysis, coding, and debugging of complex program logic. Establishing test procedures, testing, and debugging programs. Determining data needs and entity relationships; designing database structures for efficient and effective data storage and retrieval. Developing user-friendly, standards-compliant application interfaces. Adhering to software coding and documentation standards. Communicating with and training internal and external clients. Efficiently managing time and resources within a software development project.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

This is an entry level position. We are looking for dynamic, creative, technical people that have the ability to learn and apply new technologies. This includes new college graduates that have a Computer Science degree or equivalent. Experience in designing, implementing and testing complex software applications would be a plus. Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug code. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team-oriented environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with both non-technical and technical users. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher. More than the required amount of software development experience. Experience using PyPE and,or Django, experience with Oracle databases. Experience with agile software development processes. Experience programming in Python, Java, and,or Natural.

Working conditions

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

Work performed on concurrent multiple projects under pressure of rigid deadlines or time limitations. May require occasional extended work hours or on-call obligation.
