Assist with data collection for a National Institutes of Health funded research grant.

Essential Functions

Conduct next generation sequencing library preparation and analysis. Assist with animal care. Keep laboratory supplies stocked and organized. Maintain databases containing biological data and metadata.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Some field work on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

B.A. or B.S. degree in biological sciences or a related field. Experience with molecular genetics laboratory techniques. Demonstrated good organizational skills. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Computational biology skills for analyzing next generation sequence data; experience with CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing; experience with cell culture maintenance; experience with fish care.
