Job Description

The postdoctoral fellowwill work in an interdisciplinary medical setting at the Boiling Center forDevelopmental Disabilities (BCDD) conducting comprehensive evaluations,implementing behavioral therapy, participating in didactic training,supervising predoctoral interns and practicum students, and completing programevaluation activities and/or research. The postdoctoral fellow will receive aminimum of 2 hours per week of individual supervision by a licensedpsychologist.

While at the BCDD, thepostdoctoral fellow will be involved in weekly multidisciplinary evaluations.Collaboration at the developmental center is most often with developmentalpediatrics, speech/language, social work, or audiology. Fewer opportunities areavailable for collaboration with nutrition, nursing, physical and/oroccupational therapy. Commonly administered assessment instruments include theWPPSI-IV, SB-5, Bayley-III, WISC-V, Bracken, WJ-IV Achievement, WIAT-III,Vineland-3, BASC-3, Conners-3, BITSEA, SCQ, ADOS-2, CARS-2, etc. Additionally,opportunities for research are available using BCDD data, which includesdeveloping ideas for manuscripts and presentations, data analysis, andmanuscript preparation.

Several opportunitiesfor psychotherapy are available to the postdoctoral fellow. Psychotherapyinterventions at the BCDD are most often behavioral. There is an AppliedBehavior Analysis (ABA) for Families Clinic which emphasizes a parent-trainingmodel of ABA. Opportunities for the fellow's involvement in this clinic includeproviding ABA therapy and parent consultation for individual cases, supervisionof intern and practicum student cases, and co-leading group supervisionmeetings. For postdoctoral fellows with a significant amount of prior ABAexperience, there are additional opportunities to conduct didactic training inABA methods for interns and practicum students and supervise several caseswithin the clinic; as well as opportunities to assist with ongoing developmentof the ABA for Families training program. If the fellow is interested andsupervision is available, there is opportunity for participation in theParent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Clinic.

Applicantsmust have a doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D.) in clinical, counseling, orschool psychology. Completion of all professional doctoral degree requirementsfrom a regionally accredited institution of higher education or an APA/CPAaccredited program and predoctoral internship meeting APPIC standards is requiredbefore starting the fellowship. The postdoctoral fellowship meets Tennessee'spsychology licensure requirements. Applicants must be licensed orlicense-eligible as a Provisional or Temporary Psychologist in the State ofTennessee. It is required that the fellow sit for the EPPP and State ofTennessee Ethics and Jurisprudence Examination as soon as possible in thefellowship year and apply for one of the aforementioned licensures.

Priorityis given to applicants with interdisciplinary experience in a University Centerfor Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) or other comparableinterdisciplinary setting. Applicants with specialized abilities should makethese known when applying. For example, attributes such as fluency in signlanguage, fluency in Spanish, a proven record in grant writing, or previousexperience in a related profession will be of interest to the SelectionCommittee.
