UPMC Health Plan is seeking a Digital Content Specialist for its downtown Pittsburgh location at the U.S. Steel Tower. The Digital Content Specialist coordinates and develops digital content for online channels like web, email, and/or social media; Digital content designed to attract and engage both internal and external audiences in support of UPMC Insurance Services Division public digital properties and strategic digital campaigns.

This role is critical to the maintenance and overall site health of our public websites, social media platforms and email outreach as we develop strategic thinking, best in class user-centered digital media to engage prospects, members, and clients as new strategic marketing campaigns are launched. This role may partner closely with a variety of collaborators and stakeholders, from front end designers and IT developers, to internal clients. In addition, he/she will need to align resources and timing to ensure all assets are produced according to strategy, on a clearly communicated timeline, tested and validated, and launched into the marketplace. This person will bring the voice of the user to the table and understand digital content best practices.


* Apply SEO best practices and related content management techniques to website content. Partner with Search Engine Specialist to implement SEO content checklist and benchmark performance.
* Assess digital strategy requests from a web perspective and recommend enhancements or landing page additions to support key initiatives.
* Communicate project status information in a timely manner to appropriate departmental parties throughout all phases of each project.
* Complete projects on time and within budget.
* Conduct ongoing content audit with campaign managers to ensure accuracy of digital properties.
* Contribute to reporting and analysis of digital marketing campaigns.
* Contribute creative ideas on how to leverage digital media to help optimize and achieve UPMC ISD's business objectives.
* Coordinate day-to-day management with marketing strategists and campaign managers to ensure digital channel updates are consistent with overarching strategy and campaigns.
* Create and maintain editorial content calendars for digital channel(s)
* Demonstrate service-oriented behavior in interactions with clients and co-workers.
* Ensure web properties such as public sites, landing pages and blogs are accurate, indexed as appropriate, tracked in Google Analytics, and on target for upgrades as needed.
* Fully understand the line of business assigned to in order to produce digital content that is on brand and persuasive to key audience segments.
* Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects appropriately.
* Interact with clients and colleagues effectively to obtain material for and approval of projects.
* Manage projects of varying levels of complexity and sophistication.
* Meet all regulatory requirements such as 508 compliance for web readability, 1557 web language functionality, CAN-SPAM email communication requirements and all internal privacy requirements.
* Monitors up and downtime of sites, social channels, and email platform for errors like broken links, misspellings and works to resolve rapidly, as they occur.
* Partner with stakeholders like IT, Product, Sales, and Campaign to deliver functional requirements, content documents, front end mockups, timeline expectations and prioritization list to ensure smooth workflows and project realization.
* Proofread and edit copy for other Marketing, Communications, and Strategic Planning division staff in conformity with UPMC style rules.
* QA test digital media to ensure content accuracy, full functionality and user experience that matches mockup designs.
* Work with digital writer and digital designer to create content that is appropriate for digital channel(s), creative, concise, tailored to the audience, and consistent with UPMC style rules.


* Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Marketing Technology, Advertising, Journalism, Communications, Web Development, Digital Marketing, Search Marketing.

* 2-5 years experience producing web, managing an online presence via social media, email or digital content management in a corporate communications position or related field such as website development, journalism, marketing/advertising or health sciences.

* Familiarity with content management systems, website design principles, and content-related search engine optimization (SEO) best practices required.

* Google Analytics Certification preferred

* Experience with a professional grade email platform like IBM, Silver Pop, Exact TargetMailChimp, or Constant Contact preferred

* Knowledge of social media management and listening platforms a plus

* Site maintenance tool experience such as Siteimprove a plus

* Experience with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) preferred.

* Excellent collaboration, multitasking, organizational, research/interviewing, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills.

* Willingness to learn new platforms
