Description

Purpose:

Work as a programmer and a quantitative researcher, developing, implementing and monitoring advanced analytic, and predictive modeling tools for health care related activities at the UPMC Clinical Analytics Department of the Health Services Division.

Responsibilities:

* Analyze and interpreting the results of big data analyses.
* Apply state-of-the-art techniques (data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, core mathematical-modeling and dynamic processing to data visualization) to extract actionable insights through analysis of large-scale, high-dimensional data.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts, academic partners, and internal/external stakeholders to design systems for data collection, cleaning, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling.
* Design, develop, and implement health care analytic and biomedical modeling programs.
* Execution of all phases of quantitative research projects: identifying the business problem, data exploration, modeling, communication of final results.
* Generate conceptual models, sharing and articulating those theories and quantifying the limitations of implemented models.
* Provide guidance on data structures and design for reporting, ad-hoc analyses and propensity modeling driving insights around patients, members and care delivery improvement strategies.
* Responsible for conceiving, planning, designing, developing, and validating robust algorithms for use in analyzing healthcare models.

Qualifications

* Masters degree in a quantitative discipline such as bio-informatics, mathematics, operations research, economics, Decision science, health services research or related field.
* Ph.D preferred.
* 3 or more years of experience in quantitative methods or other relevant work Strong mathematics and science background with sound analytical/computational skills and proficiency in pattern recognition and classification.
* Experience with machine learning models desired.
* Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
* Comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, highly-dimensional data from varying sources.
* Knowledge of statistical and reporting methodologies.
* Familiarity with databases and SQL.
* Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, Matlab, SPSS modeler, or SAS.
* Ability to design programs to analyze complicated scenarios.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
