Job Description

The Sport Administration program at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a for a full time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Sport Administration faculty position beginning in the fall of the 2020-2021 academic year.

UNM is the state's flagship research university as well as a Hispanic-Serving Institution classified a Carnegie Research University with Highest Research Activity. UNM also has strong connections with 23 tribal sovereign nations located within New Mexico. As such, successful candidates must be committed to working with broadly diverse student and community populations.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with program faculty and maintain an active research agenda. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate-level courses related to youth sports and may also be required to teach other courses in Sport Administration. The successful candidate will advise master's and doctoral-level graduate students specializing in Sport Administration and will be expected to help meet the needs for service on degree committees of Sport Administration. This person may supervise graduate-level internships and will maintain regular office hours (3-5 hours per week).

UNM is located in Albuquerque - a metropolitan area of more than 500,000 people - between the beautiful Rio Grande River and the picturesque Sandia Mountains. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Doctorate in sport administration or a closely-related field. Degree must be completed by UNM faculty contract start date;
* Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct and publish original research in the area of sport management/administration; and
* Demonstrated ability or potential in teaching graduate-level courses in sport management/administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ability or potential to serve on doctoral dissertation committees and comprehensive exam committees for both M.S. and Ph.D.;
* Demonstrated ability or potential to teach graduate-level classes in Youth Sport Development and Coaching;
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities;
* Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct and publish original research in the area sport management/administration;
* Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods; and
* Expertise in the use of technology and online instruction related to sport management/administration; and
* Active involvement in one or more professional organizations in field.
