Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Medical Education Program Assistant 1 to join our Office of Education team as the Pediatrics Grand Rounds administrator and Residency Program assistant.

The mission of the Department of Pediatrics is to provide the children of New Mexico with comprehensive, family-centered health care that is unequaled in the state and region. Through a network of hospitals, clinics, and community-based services that are integrally linked to the education mission of UNM, our providers apply advanced medical knowledge and an abiding concern for the well-being of children to improve and restore health for New Mexico's youngest residents.

The Pediatrics Residency program trains new physicians to be New Mexico's next generation of pediatricians. Skills learned will improve the health of patients, families, and communities. This is done through a combination of clinical, educational, and community experiences. Pediatrics Grand Rounds provides weekly continuing medical education for all levels of providers of pediatric health care.

This position is part of the Pediatrics Office of Education, which encompasses undergraduate medical education (Phase II Clerkship and Phase III Sub-Intern and elective rotations), graduate medical education (the Pediatrics Residency program), and Grand Rounds. The person who is selected will be responsible for:

* Coordinating the department's Grand Rounds program, including ensuring compliance with CME requirements and serving as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders.
* Processing reimbursements and purchases, including booking travel and arranging for catering.
* Tracking completion of program requirements and collecting documentation from residents and faculty.
* Assisting with recruitment and orientation of residents.
* Managing reservations for and maintaining the large Pediatrics conference room.
* Scheduling, reserving rooms, preparing, and setting up for meetings and lectures. Taking meeting minutes.
* Providing support to the Vice Chair for Education, Residency Director, Associate Directors, Program Manager, and 50 resident physicians.
* Providing support to and cross-training with other members of the Office of Education team, including the Pediatrics Clerkship program.
* Performing a variety of general administrative tasks, such as filing, preparation of reports, and correspondence.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

* Experience with or knowledge of medical education
* Experience with or knowledge of UNM policies and procedures
* Strong technical proficiency, including with Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and AV equipment
