Job Description

The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) is looking for a creative, self-motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Programmer/Analyst 1. The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for both front- and back-end development of BBER's web-based data services. Data include primary and secondary social and economic data used by communities and policymakers in New Mexico.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

* Assist in the development and management of PostgreSQL database
* Collaborate with BBER researchers in the design of data visualizations
* Develop and maintain web-based visualizations with javascript, html5 and/or css3.
* Develop and maintain APIs for data query and visualization
* Assist in the maintenance of BBER's website

Term appointment position for 1 year from date of hire. Continuation of appointment based upon availability of funding.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or similar
* Demonstrated experience in back-end development, with knowledge of:
* Data management and SQL; familiarity with AWS PostgreSQL a plus.
* Cloud deployment (AWS)
* API development, preferably with C#


* Demonstrated experience in front-end development, with knowledge of:
* js, html 5; css3
* Modern web framework (eg Vue, Angular) and/or D3.js is a plus
