This is a research laboratory technician position in a neuroscience laboratory. The principal investigator is a junior faculty physician-scientist leading a growing independent research program. The candidate will perform experiments investigating the long-lasting effects of acute infection and other experiences on the brain and regulation of the stress response.

The majority of time will be spent independently performing experiments including rodent behavior, injections, rodent surgery, histology, in situ hybridization, tissue collection, and hormone assays. The job will include some data organization and potentially data analysis. The job will also include some administrative tasks including ordering laboratory supplies, maintaining and organizing financial records, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The candidate should have a flexible work schedule and willingness to work on some weekends. The job may also include supervising students.

Required Qualifications*

Exceptional organizational skills and reliability are essential, as well as the ability to worth well with others. Outstanding references are required. The applicant must have facility with Microsoft Office suite software and proficiency in English. Prior experience with rodent research is desired, as well as a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline.

Research Lab Tech Intermediate- 1-3 years of experience is required

Research Lab Tech Associate- 0-1 years of experience is required

Desired Qualifications*

Masters or PhD in a related field. Familiarity with software including Ethovision, Prism, SPSS. Prior experience with in situ hybridization, histology, rodent behavior, and rodent surgery including stereotactic surgery. Recent graduates looking to strengthen their credentials for neuroscience graduate school or MD/PhD application are encouraged to apply, though preferred candidates will be able to make a commitment for more than one year. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Underfill Statement

The possibility of under filling this position at the Research Laboratory Technician Associate title is possible and will be determined based upon the experience of the applicant.
