About Ross Finance

The Ross Finance team is dedicated to providing skilled financial support to units within Ross as well as providing strategic guidance and financial support school-wide. This team excels in partnering, technical financial understanding, problem-solving abilities, initiative, and a commitment to customer service.


Provides financial support and consultation to a portfolio of units within Ross including academic and administrative units. This person is the key point of contact for all financial matters relating to units within their portfolio having responsibility for annual budget preparation and ongoing monitoring, internal controls and annual certification, regular financial reporting, and ad hoc budgetary and accounting reports and analyses. In addition, this person will manage several school-wide finance functions including the Ross Finance website and unit-level financial reports, financial analysis support to the school's innovation process, and development and maintenance of unit-level pro-formas.

Financial Partner to a Portfolio of Ross Units (Academic and Administrative Units):

* Partner with units to develop annual budget, provide guidance on best practices and refer to policy as necessary throughout the budget preparation and submittal process
* Provide regular and ad hoc financial analysis and reports to make recommendations, help answer questions and/or provide decision support
* Analyze financial activities and related processes and make recommendations for improvement
* Support units in the review and certification of their internal controls
* Consult with units to establish a meaningful account structure
* Advise units in preparation of Accounts Receivable billing information for University SSC, including troubleshooting and problem resolution
* Meet with units to determine appropriate purchasing method, which may also include facilitating a bid process with central Procurement
* Align financial practices accordingly to the University policy and practices as necessary

Manage and support school-wide financial processes:

* Provide financial analysis support and guidance to the innovation process
* Develop and maintain program level pro-formas
* Steward the Ross Finance website and unit level financial reporting to ensure they provide the most helpful information for the Ross Community

Required Qualifications*

* BBA in accounting, finance, or business administration or equivalent work experience
* Seven years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budgeting, knowledge and experience using spreadsheets (Excel) and advanced spreadsheet functions
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and develop strong partnerships with staff at all levels and with varying levels of financial and budgetary knowledge
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing priorities
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, ability to complete tasks in a timely manner; adaptive to a changing environment
* Demonstrated ability to communicate financial matters clearly and effectively
* Demonstrated skills in project management
* Ability to work with financial systems and reporting tools

Desired Qualifications*

* Significant experience with Business Objects and M-Pathways highly desired.
