Job description:

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine to study novel molecular mechanisms (identified in the PI's laboratory) mediating cell adhesion and communication in cardiac cells. A combination of proteomic, biochemical, molecular, cellular, and electrophysiology approaches in addition to in vivo animal experimentation will be used. Training in cardiac (patho)physiology, and experience in the above approaches and animal experimentation is highly desirable.

Education, training, experience:

The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to be current in the literature in the field, to plan and conduct experiments, interpret data, and publish results. Applicants must possess a PhD degree, should have excellent oral and written communication skills, and display initiative as well as independence. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to attend and present his/her work in national and international meetings, be part of a muscle-interest group, participate in collaborative projects, and be trained in successful grant writing skills.
