Responsibilities include:

* Assist academic programs staff in day-to-day departmental activities including preparing and maintaining curricular and co-curricular materials, and general record maintenance.
* Help develop and facilitate programs for the University of Kansas and local communities. This may include event set up and cleanup, entering programs on various calendars and the Museum database, greeting and directing visitors, among other duties.
* Assist with expanding and strengthening student engagement, in particular building relationships with KU student groups, including in conjunction with the Spencer Student Advisory Board.
* Assist with program promotion, including development and distribution of materials.
* Assist with additional tasks/programs as needed.

Required Qualifications

* Demonstrated hospitality and customer service experience.
* Previous experience working with a diverse audiences, as demonstrated by application materials.
* Strong communication skills as evident by application materials.
* Previous experience working independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively, as demonstrated by application materials.
* Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at KU.

Preferred Qualifications

* Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and reliability.
* Interest in the arts and interdisciplinary experiences.
* Qualified and accepted for Federal Work Study for 2019-2020 academic year.
* Previous work and volunteer experience in an art museum or other cultural institution.
* Familiarity with the Spencer Museum and knowledge of KU campus and Lawrence.
* Highly organized, detail oriented, with ability to multi-task.
* Database/data entry experience.
