Job Description

Director, Child Care Center Student Affairs

Reporting to the Director of Administrative & Fiscal Operation for Student Affairs and responsible for consistent achievement of the organization's mission and organizational objectives by administering a high quality childcare program for children and families of the UI Children's Center. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child development and family studies, early childhood special education, or elementary education; preferred Master’s degree in elementary education or child development. Salary range: $53,000 annually or higher commensurate with experience. Announcement #SP001718P.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Planning, supervising and implementing educational programs for children in accordance with the philosophies and policies of the National Association for the Education of Young Children as adopted for the Children’s Center (NAEYC Accreditation) and the IdahoStars Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).

• Developing and implementing a philosophy of early childhood education and care, apply pedagogical guidelines.

• Developing and maintaining a sustainable childcare program demonstrating excellence by managing health and safety, risk management, professional staff development, partnerships with families, campus constituents and community.

• Developing and implementing developmentally appropriate programs to individual children with concern for their interests, abilities, special talents, individual style, and pace of learning.

• Managing all state licensing requirements; ensuring compliance with all state and federal requirements including NAEYC accreditation standards and QRIS program requirements, Idaho ChildCare Program (ICCP) and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

• Managing grant and external funding opportunities; ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

• Assessing and improving quality childcare practices, managing curriculum and the overall image of the UI Children’s Center.

• Directing the strategic planning process for UI Children’s Center; establishing the vision and direction for the organization, leading development and implementation of short term and long-term plans consistent with the university strategic plan and Student Affairs cascade plan.

• Administering financial management, develop annual operating budgets and monitor budget status; ensure budgetary and administrative policies and procedures are maintained according to university policy.

• Ensuring proper financial stewardship for UI Children’s Center; set tuition rates, oversee monthly billing and collections, and monitor financial status to maintain fiscal integrity of the department.

• Recruiting prospective families for enrollment.
