Job Description

LASP is particularly proud of a work environment that supports employee creativity and productivity. The engineers work one-on-one with world-renowned researchers to design spaceflight instrumentation to learn more about our Earth, its atmosphere, and the surrounding planets.

LASP is seeking junior software engineers to participate in the development of embedded microprocessor flight software for present and upcoming space science projects. This person will be responsible for or participate in:

Assisting with design, implementation, and testing of software for ground support equipment, a science instrument or spacecraft.
Designing and implementing software tools and test software, including database interfaces, to support development and testing of the flight software.
Creating and maintaining flight software process documents.
Defining and documenting development environment and test activities.
Interacting with scientists, engineers, and mission operations personnel.
Attending and presenting at meetings and project reviews.

This individual must have experience working in C/C . Familiarity with scripting languages is desirable, as is familiarity with various operating systems: UNIX, Mac OS, and Windows XP. Knowledge of embedded software architecture design utilizing low-level scheduling algorithms and/or real-time operating systems is a plus. This individual needs good written and communication skills. This individual must be familiar with the CMMI and/or software development life-cycle phases.

B.S. or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or a closely related field is desirable.
