Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking an Outreach and Enrollment Specialist for a full-time position with the University Of Colorado College Of Nursing at its Sheridan Health Services clinics, in Denver, CO 80236. This position will be responsible for assisting patients in navigating/enrolling in Colorado Health Insurance Exchange, Medicaid plan, or assessing eligibility for the clinics' federal fee discount program. Additionally, the position will be actively engaged in outreach in the community and with local organizations. Services will encompass both pediatric and adult clients.

Clinic Description:

Sheridan Health Services (SHS) is a multi-site, nurse-managed federally qualified community health center, funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Primary Healthcare; and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing and the Sheridan School District. There are now ~40 employees at two convenient locations to serve community health needs primarily for residents of Sheridan, Englewood, and North Littleton. A school-based clinic is located in the Sheridan School District Administration building. The community health center is located on the Fort Logan campus in southwest Denver and provides services to adults. Services offered include primary care across the lifespan; prenatal and postpartum midwifery care, gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, and outpatient substance abuse treatment. Examples of Work Performed:

* Engage with the community by participating in community events, engaging with local schools and recreational centers, and outreach to the community-at-large.
* Assist patients and families to navigate the various enrollment processes. Serve as a patient advocate in enrollment and health-related initiatives.
* Access protected information to help patients and community members enroll in various public and private plans.
* Track all connections made and applications processed in order to complete both state and federally required reports.
* Collaborate internally and externally to find resources for social services, pharmacy, and other assistance programs.
* Perform routine clerical work in support of clinical activities including scheduling appointments, assisting patients, and entering data into computer.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary for a full-time (1.0 FTE) begins at $34,068 andis commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Two years' experience working with healthcare systems/services and/or experience with community organizations, social services, and public resources

Conditions of Employment:

* Must be willing and able to utilize bilingual Spanish/English reading, writing and speaking skills on daily basis.
* Must be willing and able to work in patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree, with a background in public health, health education, communications, or related fields
* Prior health center experience
* Familiarity with electronic health record systems a plus
* Experience with public and private insurance plans/programs
* Experience in planning and implementing projects and coordination of events

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Working knowledge of the Colorado Medicaid program
* Ability to work a flexible schedule when circumstances necessitate, including some evenings and weekends
* Ensure strict compliance with University & professional policies/procedures
* Ability to handle confidential material in compliance with HIPAA standards
* Excellent time management skills
* Excellent customer service skills
* Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures and diverse socioeconomic situations
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with patients and team members of all skill levels
