Assistant Professor of Finance

The University ofColorado Denver (CU Denver) seeks one full-time tenure track AssistantProfessor of finance in the Business School at the Downtown Denver Campus.

As one of threeinstitutions within the University of Colorado system, the University of ColoradoDenver is an urban campus located in the heart of the city's commercial,cultural and recreational districts and has become one of the top urbanresearch universities. UCD, including its Anschutz Medical Campus, was recentlyrated by Forbes magazine as the 34th best public university in the nation. TheBusiness School has about 70 full-time faculty and offers the largest graduatebusiness program in the Rocky Mountain region with about 1,000 MBA and MS students,plus 1,400 undergraduate business students. The Business School recentlyreceived substantial gifts for its Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program,the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities, The nationally ranked Finance and RiskManagement Program offer degree programs that include: (i) MS in Finance,including specializations in risk management and commodities; (ii) MBA withfinance concentration; (iii) BSBA with the emphases on: (a) finance; (b) riskmanagement and insurance; (c) financial management; and (d) finance andinformation systems areas of emphasis. The current finance faculty members havepublished on many top-tier journals in economics and finance including AER, JPE,JFE, RFS, MS, JB, JFQA, JBF, JEF, JFM, JD.

The position is 40% research, 40%teaching, and 20% service. The normal teaching load consists of 4 courses (3hours each) during a 9-month contract. The applicant hired will be expected tobe active in high quality research, excellent teaching, and good service. Inparticular, the successful candidate should have universityteaching experience in finance courses at the graduate/undergraduate level, andfeel comfortable with teaching various finance courses and online teaching ifnecessary. The hired application should exhibit the potential to publish intop-tier journals. In addition, the research experience and interest infutures/options and commodity finance/economics is preferred.

Required Education/Experience Skills:

A doctoral degree in Finance, Financial Economics, or Economics from an AACSB accredited (or equivalent) institution. ABD applicants will be considered if there is strong evidence that the applicant is making good progress towards completion of the doctoral degree by May 2019.
