Job Description

The Department of Biology at the University of ColoradoColorado Springs invites applications for a nine-month appointment as aVisiting Assistant Professor to start in August of 2018. This is temporary position to fill atenure-track vacancy while a full search is conducted. Applicants must have aPhD in biology or a closely related science discipline and a strong commitment toundergraduate teaching. Teaching load (4-3) will be comprised of core andelective lecture and laboratory classes within the biology major. Specifically,candidates must be able to teach lecture classes in ecology and animalphysiology, as well as laboratory sections of general biology. Additionalcourse assignments will be based on departmental needs and the qualificationsand experience of the person hired. Preference will be given to applicants withprevious college teaching experience and expertise in animal ecophysiology.

TheUniversity enrolls ~ 12,000 students with ~ 750 undergraduate Biology majors.The Department of Biology is dedicated to outstanding teaching and research atthe undergraduate and Master's levels (www.uccs.edu/~biology).
