Department Head Rehabilitation Sciences Associate Professor

Tenured Senior Faculty Position, Department Chair

 

The College of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for the position of Rehabilitation Sciences Department Chair. The candidate we are seeking is a tenure eligible, licensed OT/PT/ATC senior faculty member who possesses strong leadership skills, teaching excellence, an established research track record, and a professional vision consistent with emerging health care practice patterns who will build on the Department's many accomplishments  and contributions in the areas of education, clinical practice, and scholarship.

 

Department chair responsibilities include:

  • Representing the Department on the Dean's Administrative Council and other University wide initiatives.

  • Working with the Dean and in collaboration with the individual program directors to ensure effective delivery of the academic programs in the unit.

  • Leading the recruitment and retention of high caliber faculty and staff in the department.

  • Recommending to the Dean faculty members' reappointment, promotion and tenure, and annual assignment of workload consistent with the department, college, and university policies.

  • Coordinating department goals and strategic initiatives, and works with unit faculty and staff on executing college and university priorities.

  • Managing the department budget, and oversees the allocating of department resources in congruence with the university's collective bargaining agreement and college bylaws.

  • Also foster a climate of professional growth, development, and a collegial work environment.

 

The selected individual is a faculty member and will also have the opportunity to teach in the area of their professional credential and content expertise.

 

This is a full-time tenured faculty position at the Associate/Full Professor level. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Earned academic/research doctoral degree from a US regionally accredited university, and a defined area of professional content expertise.

  • Eligibility for professional licensure as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, or athletic trainer in the state of Ohio.

  • Excellence in teaching.

  • An established record of research/scholarly activity.

  • Strong interest and proficiency in faculty development and mentoring.

  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, and implementation.

  • Strong vision and effective leadership skills.

  • Previous administrative experience.

  • Proficient with educational technology.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Administrative experience with professional accreditation standards and procedures.

  • Previous higher education administrative experience as a leader/chair of an academic department, and/or academic program.

 

The Department is housed within the College of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati, which is one of four colleges in the Academic Health Center along with the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences offers a clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy and a pre-professional bachelor's degree in Health Sciences including Behavior & Occupation Studies, Exercise and Movement Science, and Physiologic Science. The Department is developing an MOT program and is currently searching for a founding program director. The department will also be transferring the Athletic Training baccalaureate degree program from another UC college (fall 2016), and will immediately begin the development of an entry level master's degree in Athletic Training.
