UC is one of the largest employers in the Cincinnati region, employing over 15,000 full time and part time faculty, staff and student workers. The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Health and Disease at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and UC Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute seek cardiologists with advanced imaging training to support clinical growth, including but not limited to the programs of structural heart disease, adult congenital heart disease and heart failure-transplantation. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Applicants for faculty positions with echocardiography and/or nuclear cardiology certification will be considered; those with COCATS level 3 training are preferred. Applicants must qualify for a full-time faculty position at the rank(s) of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor in the Department of Medicine. Rank and title will be commensurate with experience.
Minimum requirements: MD or MD/PhD, board certification in Internal Medicine, board eligibility or certification in Cardiovascular Diseases, training in cardiac imaging, and ability to obtain an unrestricted Ohio State Medical License and DEA license. Experience in advanced echocardiography (3D-echocardiography, strain echocardiography, TEE, structural heart disease) and/or advanced nuclear cardiology (knowledge of image processing/reconstruction, solid state SPECT and coronary flow reserve) is highly desirable. In addition, Cardiac CT and/or Cardiac PET experience is considered to be of added value to the group.
Cardiology faculty at UCMC are expected to contribute to ambulatory and hospital-based care, maintain active engagement in our education and training missions and participate in quality improvement, safety and research projects. New faculty will join an experienced team of cardiovascular imagers. Imaging infrastructure at UCMC currently includes a 3D post-processing laboratory, state of the art echocardiography, SPECT (both solid state and anger cameras), PET/CT utilizing a rubidium radioisotope generator, dual source CT, and both inpatient and outpatient cardiac capable MRI systems. Growth in the Cardiovascular Imaging section in the coming year will include the addition of an Endowed Chair in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging, dedication of a new centralized Imaging Center with expansive teaching capabilities, multi-split screen projection and remote reading functionality from several UC Health sites and a state of the art large bore cardiac capable MRI scanner. The Division of Cardiovascular Health and Disease is currently comprised of 27 full time faculty members and nearly 20 fellows with broad subspecialty interests.
