The String Department within the Performance Studies Division of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) seeks an experienced artist/teacher of double bass for a full-time tenure-track appointment beginning in the Fall Semester of 2016. The String Department at CCM is a highly collaborative, multi-dimensional area of the Performance Studies Division offering the BM, MM, AD and DMA degree programs. CCM is launching a ground-breaking CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship in collaboration with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in the 2016-2017 Academic Year http://ccm.uc.edu/chance2perform.html.
Responsibilities: Emphasis will be upon the teaching and recruiting of quality undergraduate and graduate applied and concentration level double bass students to teach courses in related areas subject to the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the school. A strong interest in and experience with community engagement, music entrepreneurship, music leadership, and/or other non-traditional career models is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the discipline through engagement in significant professional activities including maintaining regional, national and international visibility in solo/chamber music/orchestral performance, external teaching, services to the college/university/community, academic advising and mentoring students.
Position Qualifications: Masters degree (Doctorate preferred) or commensurate professional experience; significant professional performance experience; college teaching experience at the graduate and/or professional level with a proven record of student successes; qualifications to teach in related areas.
Terms of Appointment: Full-Time tenure-track at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment Date: August, 2016.
