Job Description

Under general direction, provide electronic design, fabrication, and repair services to faculty, research staff, and graduate students for a wide variety of research projects.

This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks.



Minimum Qualifications:

- Skills in design and fabrication of electronic circuits and components.

- Skills using CAD/CAE systems for development and documentation of new designs.

- Skills using a wide variety of electronic test instruments and appropriate hand tools for mechanical assembly and soldering and to bring new electronic equipment, as well as those that need repair or modification, to an operational state.

- Skill using and interpreting results of electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators, frequency counters and data acquisition systems.

- Organizational and time management skills.

- Interpersonal communication skills to work effectively in a diverse community.

- Knowledge of safe work practices.

- Skill to maintain clear, accurate, and organized records.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with high-frequency (>1GHz) design, low level (pA & nV) design, low noise design, and electromagnetic interference tracking and elimination.

- Knowledge of chemicals, materials and adhesives used in electronics.

- Experience applying surface mount technology, and a wide variety of soldering techniques.

- Skills to analyze and repair undocumented electronic devices.
