Departmental Overview

The California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) is a cooperative effort between the state of California, private industry, venture capital, and the University of California campuses at Berkeley, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz. In order to stimulate discovery at the intersection of the physical and biological sciences, QB3 promotes multidisciplinary research at world-class facilities, creates innovative educational programs, and fosters industry partnerships. The Institute's more than 180 researchers decipher the complex systems involved in living systems and discover ground-breaking applications for that basic knowledge in the areas of health, energy, and the environment.

Responsibilities

* Histological sectioning, staining, and imaging.
* Immunofluorescence.
* iLab and room access communications and tasks.
* Scheduling and training of personnel including undergraduate researchers.
* Literature reading and ongoing training.
* Communication and planning with lab and facility managers.
* Data analysis and data processing into figures.
* General lab maintenance and organization.
* Performance testing of confocal and flow cytometer.

Required Qualifications

* Use of cryotome and microtome equipment
* Histology or pathology lab skills
* Strong written and oral skills
* Organization and teamwork skills.

Education/Training:

* BS in Biology, Biochemistry or Bioengineering or certificates of biological related disciplines and/or previous biological laboratory experience.
* 3+ years of laboratory training.

Preferred Qualifications

* One or more years of experience in each of the above.
* Experience in microscopy.
* Experience in molecular aging, cell signaling or aging pathology studies.

Salary & Benefits

The position is non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience within the range of $20.74 - $21.20, steps 1.0 - 2.0.
