Requisition Number: 30768 Job Title: PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE I Working Title: Curatorial Assistant Salary: $17.10 - $33.90 hourly Job Type: Contract Department Name: 0475-HAMMER MUSEUM Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Under the supervision of the Curator, the Curatorial Assistant will provide administrative and research support to the Curator and will provide assistance on selected exhibitions and other curatorial projects as needed. Major administrative duties include responding to artist-in-residence project proposals; organizing and maintaining project files and various departmental filing systems; planning schedules and travel for artists; preparing drafts, final correspondence, memoranda, reports, tables, and other documents; and assisting with administrative duties related to the artist-in-residence program. Major curatorial duties include conducting research on compiling related information including checklist development and compilation of publication material for exhibitions and projects; and preparing, coordinating, and monitoring loan forms, contracts, and other necessary processing and approvals according to internal procedures. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 9:30 am Shift End: 6:30 pm Qualifications for Position

2 to 3 years of experience and excellent skills in administrative coordination

Required

Prior art museum experience and knowledge of museum operations, standards, practices, and procedures

Required

Proven curatorial research skills and experience

Required

Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, editing, and proofreading; demonstrated ability to compose routine business correspondence with correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Excellent interpersonal skills to interact and effectively deal with artists, outside vendors, and other institutions, as well as diverse student, Museum and university staff population

Required

Highly organized, efficient, and attentive to detail, with excellent follow-up skills

Required

Self-starting, resourceful, proactive, and motivated in performing and excelling in responsibilities

Required

Able to prioritize and adjust heavy workload, manage a variety of tasks, and meet various deadlines with changing priorities, frequent interruptions, and conflicting deadlines

Required

Proven skill in using a PC and experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Outlook and Excel; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat

Professional demeanor and courteous/helpful phone manner

Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, reach, push, pull, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, talk, hear, and see (vision requirements include color vision, depth perception, central and peripheral vision, close vision, and distance vision)

BA in art, art history, or Curatorial Studies; or BFA in art, with working knowledge of art history and contemporary art; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

MA in art, art history, or Curatorial Studies; or MFA in art, with working knowledge of art history and contemporary art strongly preferred.
