UCPath is the University of California's strategic initiative to provide a standardized and streamlined payroll, benefits, HR and academic personnel solution for all UC's campuses and medical centers, as well as self-service for the university's 190,000 employees. The UCPath initiative includes the creation of a system-wide shared service center, called the UCPath Center responsible for the processing of the standardized administrative transactions.

Responsibilities

This position involves analyzing large-scale business processes and problems; developing solutions involving the use of computer systems, information flow and architecture; creating specifications for systems to meet requirements; validating requirements against needs; designing details of automated systems; developing user interface design; planning and executing unit integration and acceptance testing. May lead cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues.

* Applies technical expertise and business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define complex systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements and provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing complex systems and procedures by:

1. Serving as UCPC point of contact for any PayPath data change related issues.

2. Serving as UCB campus support SMEs to triage and trouble shoot payroll related issues that regard not pay calculation specific (these go to Payroll team).

3. Reviewing error files for non-payroll related interfaces.

* Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing by testing changes to PayPath.
* Participates in cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues by Engaging with key stakeholders (e.g., UCPC, Payroll) to improve business process.

Required Qualifications

* Thorough knowledge of business analysis function.
* Must have knowledge relating to the design of applications programs.
* Knowledge of other areas of IT.
* Knowledge of department processes and procedures.
* Must have skills associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.
* Must possess good interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
* Experience assessing, designing, and implementing business processes and procedures by leveraging technology for optimal effectiveness.
* Ability to quickly understand business process issues and able to gather the necessary information to document business/technical requirements in an evolving end-user environment.
* Experience translating business information requirements into logical data models, diagrams, and use cases.
* Experience creating mock-ups and iterations.
* Ability to develop test plans and execute end-user testing in a systematic way.
* Experience designing reports to support and facilitate operational workflows and the detection of data integrity issues and system errors.
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and common desktop/web applications.
* Ability to work cooperatively with a team.
* Strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
* Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems

Education/Training:

* Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of UCPath and UC Berkeley HR/Payroll business process and practices.
* Familiarity with UC policies, processes, and practices.
* Experience with large complex systems implementations and working with IT staff.
