Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director for Fitness & Wellness the UC WorkStrong coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation, coordination and the general supervision of: the UCSB WorkStrong program, a UC-wide initiative that provides individualized health and wellness programs to those who have been injured on the job to promote recovery and prevent future workplace injuries, and the Recreation Department's Rec Services programs, including such offerings as personal training, massage therapy, nutrition education and the Diabetes Prevention Program.

Plans, organizes and manages the daily operations for the WorkStrong program that serves faculty and staff, and for the Rec Services programs which serve students, faculty, staff and community members. Provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the WorkStrong program and the Rec Services programs. Sets program policies and procedures. Facilitates the scheduling of space for practitioner sessions and program offerings, hires and manages practitioners and lifestyle coaches, works with the marketing team to ensure programs are effectively marketed to the UCSB community and handles all participant inquiries and comments.

Nurtures relationships and collaborations with the UC Office of the President, other UC campus' WorkStrong Coordinators and UCSB's campus partner network (Workers' Compensation, Sansum Occupational Medicine Physician's and Administration, UCSB's Academic Staff Assistance Program, and UCSB Ergonomics) to enhance program workflow, documentation and ultimately to better serve the WorkStrong client.

Regularly evaluates the effectiveness and profitability of the Rec Services programs.

Serves on department, division, UCSB and UC Committees as appropriate. Minimum Requirements -Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Desirable Requirements -Master's degree in exercise physiology, public health, wellness health education/promotion or related field.

* Five years experience in recreation, wellness or related field.
* Nationally recognized certification in personal training, massage therapy, nutrition education or a related field preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to hire, train and evaluate part time staff preferred. Special Conditions of Employment
