Job Description


The Center for the Study of Tobacco is seeking a part-time Graduate Research Assistant (20 hours per week) who will work with a team of researchers at UAMS and the Virginia Commonwealth University to collect social media and online retailer data on electronic cigarettes and other flavored tobacco products; coordinate and manage the planning process, data collection, and content development for a scientific conference; and collaborate with national experts to implement and evaluate the achievement of benchmarks toward the research study and scientific conference. The duties will include conducting comprehensive literature reviews; developing databases; collecting online data; analyzing data; maintaining accurate records; writing preliminary reports; setting-up and managing a conference website and registration; managing day-to-day activities associated with the conference planning; and assisting with quality control and integrity of the data. The RA must be able to work independently to meet study benchmarks and work with a team to assure inter-rater reliability of the data and timely collection ad reporting of the data.

Salary: offered commensurate with experience


Conducting literature reviews and gathering background information to assist with study and conference methods. Developing databases; collecting online data from participants, social media and retailer data; and maintaining accurate records and analyze data. Participates in regular project meetings and trainings; provides updates on progress; and communicates regularly with study and conference planning team on data collection progress. Work with study and conference team to develop and implement secure systems for assuring the quality, confidentiality, and safety of the data including maintaining appropriate study logs, records, and databases. Work with study team to problem-solve issues, develop appropriate solutions, and assist study team when needed. Work with study investigators and conference planning committee to develop regular written reports of study progress, preliminary data, and other written reports and papers. Other duties may be assigned to this position.


Minimum Qualifications:

* BA or equivalent, plus one year of experience with social media

* Use of qualitative and quantitative programs
