Title Research/Laboratory Assistant (Temporary) Department James C Wyant Coll Optical Sci (2001) Location Main Campus Position Summary

The College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona is seeking applicants for a Research Laboratory Assistant in the fields of quantum information and estimation theory with applications in optical communications, imaging and sensing. The ideal candidate will be one who has experience with at least two of the following three topic areas: (1) basic tools from circuit model quantum computing, (2) single-mode formulation of quantum optics, and (3) quantum information and estimation theoretic tools. The candidate will be supervised by Prof. Saikat Guha, and will work closely with a team of theorists and experimentalists, on problems in photonic quantum information processing. The Research Laboratory Assistant will be expected to write a final report at the end of their temporary employment and present their work at a research group meeting. The individual will have an opportunity to turn their research results into journal publications if and as appropriate.

Please note that this position will begin early January 2020 and end on June 5, 2020.

Three years of related laboratory or field research experience; OR,any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications Applicants enrolled in an undergraduate program in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics, or similar with some prior background in quantum information and quantum optics is preferred.Prior participation as an intern or other research position in the field of quantum information and quantum optics will also be considered.
