Job Description

The laboratory of Dr. Marc Orbach is seeking highly motivated candidates for an NIH-funded postdoctoral position to study the biology of pathogenesis of the Valley Fever fungus, Coccidioides spp. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Orbach joining a motivated, highly collaborative interdisciplinary group that is developing an attenuated vaccine for coccidiodomycosis. We are seeking a skilled fungal molecular biologist/geneticist/biochemist or cell biologist to join our group studying the biology of the vaccine strain by identifying the interactions and pathways that our vaccine candidate gene affects using cellular localization studies, protein-protein interactions and RNA expression analyses. This project is part of a larger NIH-funded program to develop a canine vaccine for valley fever, through pre-clinical studies. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, biotechnology or a related field. Previous work experience with fungi is preferred.
