The Department of Business and Information Technology, a vibrant department of the College of Applied Science and Technology at The University of Akron, is seeking applicants for a full-time (9-month renewable) Assistant Professor of Practice/Instruction (non-tenure track position) in our Computer Information Systems Cybersecurity degree option starting Fall Semester of 2020. The primary focus of this position is teaching and preparing students for professional careers. Research is not required. Focus teaching areas are in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and computer networking. Other responsibilities include engaging in professional development and scholarly activities, and providing service to the program area, department, college, university, and the community. The successful candidate will be committed to acquiring or maintaining professional and instructor certifications.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or a related field from an accredited institution is required at the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or a related field from an accredited institution College-level teaching or other professional training experience, and any of the following professional certifications: CCNA Security, CCNP Security, CCIE Security, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CASP, OSCP, OSCE, SANS, CCE, CHFI, CFCE, GIAC, CSFA, and ACE.
