Job Description

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Dimensions are:

Lerner Tower 4 is a mixed intermediate care unit and medical surgical unit that specializes in the care of Neurology and Neurosurgical Patients. We pride ourselves on the exceptional care that we provide to our complex population.  Lerner Tower 4 is accredited by the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, an accreditation held for more than 5 years. Lerner Tower 4 is also a Gold Plus Award Winner for 'Get with the Guidelines - Stroke Care' from the American Stroke Association - an attribution of the exceptional care that we provide.  Nurses are key members of the interdisciplinary team interacting daily with Physicians, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Therapists, Dieticians and Social Workers.  Nursing care of these patients includes drain management, post-tPA monitoring and complex neurological assessments.  Nurses on Lerner Tower 4 are expert Neuro Nurses and are looked to as resources in this specialty throughout the hospital.
Position Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice. Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Minimum of Diploma/Associate's Degree in nursing from accredited program. Nurses with Associates Degree/Diploma will commit at the time of hire to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSN) or higher in Nursing within 5 years of hire. 

Note: All 2017 nursing school graduates and Spring 2018 graduates are eligible to apply. Education and degree verification will be required upon receiving a job offer.
License Requirements:
An Ohio RN license is not required to be considered for this position. If selected to move forward, employment offers may be made contingent on candidate successfully obtaining RN license within time frame discussed at the time of offer acceptance. 
Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
BSN strongly preferred. Additional floor/unit specific related experience (NAII, Nurse Extern, Practicum) is desired but not required.
