Job Description

The work involves participating in the interpretation, compounding and dispemsing of pharmaceutical preparations at ECMCC. This is a training position in the field of pharmaceuticals which enables the individual to secure additional education and experience in the preparation of generic compounds and drugs under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Assists a registered pharmacist in the interpretation, compounding and dispensing of various medications; Under direction of a registered pharmacist, manufactures and packages various pharmaceuticals and maintains appropriate records; Under direct supervision, prepares various drugs and keeps appropriate records; Reviews drug literature to establish possible patient incompatibility with specific drugs; Assists in physical inventory of the pharmacy and keeps necessary records; Assists in nursing unit inspections and distributes drugs and medication to appropriate nursing units. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of principles, procedures, and terminology of the science of pharmaceutics; good knowledge of the pharmacology of compounding drugs at a County hospital; ability to perform a variety of professional pharmaceutical tasks with a high degree of accuracy; ability to maintain pharmacy records and to prepare reports; ability to work well with others; initiative; resourcefulness; dependability; industry; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be enrolled in a recognized college or university majoring in pharmacy.
