Summer Analyst Program Overview

The Summer Analyst program at MUFG has a reputation for providing college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Summer Analysts are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and bank employees. The paid intern positions are full-time (40 hours/week during regular business hours) during the summer. The length of the internship is 10 weeks and can extend beyond that time depending on business needs, project requirements, and availability.

Position Description

This Summer Analyst position is with the Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) based in the Tempe, AZ office. A student would have an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to Security Event Monitoring and Incident Response. The CSOC is responsible for the identification of security attacks, potential compromises, and escalation of security incidents. The position will assist in several responsibilities, including but not limited to:

* Execute monitoring systems used to detect and report security violations.
* Provide initial investigation of security incidents
* Provide communication and escalation throughout the incident per the operating guidelines
* Communicate directly with data asset owners
* Perform analysis of log files
* Hunting for suspicious anomalous activity based on data alerts or data outputs from various toolsets
* Escalating issues when necessary
* The ideal candidate is a currently enrolled college student (rising senior, current senior, or graduate student).
* Generally a GPA of 3.0 or higher that will complete their degree requirements in December 2017 or Spring 2018.
* Network Security, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study

Additional qualifications include:

* Excellent computer skills specifically with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
* Excellent organization and time management skills with attention to detail
* Self-starter with the ability to synthesize ambiguous information
* Strong verbal/written communication skills
* Ability to work equally well on self-managed or team-oriented projects
