Job Description

Responsibilities

The Applications Developer Intern writes/modifies/manages programs for a variety of technical and non-technical users. These applications support a number of processes that impact both internal users and external customers. The role involves taking instructions, verbal, written and/or in diagrammatic form, and translating them into a language ('code') upon which computers can act. This role will also interact with internal and external resources for the documentation and development of APIs, web pages, and development scripts. Excellent communication skills are required.

Under direction of the IT Manager or his designee, the Applications Developer - Intern will have responsibility for implementation and maintenance of selected modules of comprehensive, company-wide systems. Duties also include analyzing requirements for selected modules of the ancillary systems, providing related technical specifications, application testing and assistance with data migrations and application interfaces. The principal function is to apply knowledge of programming techniques and project management tools to manage and/or engage with the development of computer programs to perform various tasks in accordance with agreed specifications. Activities typically include:

* Project management
* Interaction (development and management) with Relational Database Management Systems
* Documentation
* Application
* Specifications
* Research
* These may include use cases, data models and interface specifications.

Providing accurate implementation effort estimates for any development, articulating known risks to technical project management and helping devise mitigation plans.

Qualifications

* lassified as a Junior or above in an Accredited College or University with a 3.5 or above cumulative GPA.
* Able to work alone without direct supervision and provide results on an agreed upon timeline
* Knowledge and substantial experience with enterprise application development with a moderate to expert level of expertise in the following areas:
* RDBMS systems
* Data modeling
* Agile Project Management
* Python code development
* Strong ability to research and communicate results to both technical and non-technical users
* Strong communication, presentation and documentation skills
* Ability to collaborate with other project team members
* Experience interfacing with both technical and non-technical clients
* Ability to work with members of diverse technical teams and other developer communities
