Job Description

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for providing support and assistance to the Principal Tax Analyst in the accurate reporting of income taxes in accordance with ASC 740 for UGI Utilities and two subsidiaries.  This includes the quarterly effective tax rate calculation, the year-end provision process as well as the monthly close process.   The position will also require learning and using the Power Tax software for the calculation of tax depreciation and related deferred taxes. Position will also be involved in the preparation of all UGI Utilities income tax compliance support needed for the preparation of federal and state income tax returns as well as assisting in the calculation of quarterly estimated taxes. Position includes monitoring and reconciling general ledger balances associated with taxes. Lastly, this position will have ownership of UGI Utilities non-income tax return filings like sales & use tax returns, local business tax returns, and gross receipts tax returns.

Duties:

  • Assistance with monthly close tax entries, quarterly effective tax rate calculation, and year end income tax provision.
  • Preparation of tax packages for the filing of federal and state income tax returns. Preparation of quarterly estimated tax calculations.
  • Preparation of non-income tax return filings (sales & use, gross receipts, IFTA, PURTA) and correspondence with state taxing authorities to resolve tax matters.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger income tax accounts.
  • Assist with annual provision to return calculations in Global Access Management (“GAM”).
  • Assist with annual tax basis balance sheet study.

Knowledge & Skills

  • 1-2 years of general accounting experience required.
  • 1-2 years of tax experience either in public accounting or private sector preferred but not required.
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of income tax accounting and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting requirements and deadlines is a plus.
