Job Description

Responsibilities

Reports to Nursing Manager to coordinate the care of Oncology patients on 6 E Oncology/Hematology inptaient unit at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Consultation and supervision is provided to the NP by the attending physician or designee during the patient care management component of the role. NP directs the health care management of Oncology patients on 6 E Oncology/Hematology unit and provides emergency care. Also functions independently with other health care team members and departments to provide optimum care to his/her patients. The NP III- supervisor shall provide supervision of training nurse practitioners, students, consults with other health team members caring for oncology service patients at their request and shall participate in research. Advises family, initiates referrals based on family needs. Provides formal and informal in-service education for staff and conducts nursing care rounds. The NP conducts QA review of selected aspects of the Oncology/Hematology service.
Qualifications

A registered professional nurse with clinical expertise in Oncology nursing who has completed a formal NP educational program, which includes supervised clinical experience in the management of oncology patients and their families.
Successful completion of a Master's Degree in nurse practitioner program.
Experience as an NP in oncology services required.
National Certification and CA Acute Care NP license highly desired.
