Job Description

Job Duties
Under supervision of Associate Director of Business Analytics, the Business Intelligence Analyst uses modern Business Intelligence tools, such as Tableau, Cognos, SSRS, and Qlikview, to create dashboards, reports, and analytics that support David Geffen School of Medicine Dean's Office multiple analytic needs. This analytic position provides support for the creation of reporting and analysis for the Dean's Office. BI analyst works with departments to identify their data needs and works with programmers in Enterprise Data to realize the access and data visualization deliverables. This position is responsible for requirements gathering, designing, programming, unit testing, and working with end users to deploy both data models and analytics. BI Analyst will be responsible for analyzing the requests and in working with the Associate Director prioritize the projects. Incumbent must be familiar with BI design and development methodologies as well as be will to work within an agile project oriented environment. This position requires the analyst to work one on one with department customers and IT staff in order to accomplish deliverables. The BI Analyst role is a hybrid position that requires a seasoned business professional with experience in finance and healthcare data analysis as well as experience in modern business intelligence analytics. This position works with programmers and has understanding of programmer duties, but is not required to do programming.

Job Qualifications
REQUIRED: Candidates should have an Bachelor degree, Masters Preferred; degree should be in finance, education, research, or business; with minimum of 10 years' experience predominantly in fianance and healthcare. Experience in Financial reporting and Clinical reporting. Experience in analytics for healthcare and finance. Experience with the full Business Intelligence tools (SAP BO, Cognos, Tableau, QlikView) and proven ability to use tools to guide decision making. Expert knowledge of SQL, relational and dimensional data modeling.Experience working with data from the following sectors: healthcare, education, and financial. Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows Desktop OS. PREFERRED: Experience with a variety of using RDBMS (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Teradata) systems. Detailed working knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g. Javascript, Java, C#, Ruby, PL-SQL, TSQL, Python). Excellent communication skill is required for this position with the ability to manage multiple requests. This position must be able to provide expert level recommendation on visualizations and best practices support distributed BI developers outside of unit.
