Job Duties
Pharmaceutical Services at UCLA Health is one of the nation's top-ranked pharmacy departments. By broadening the field into patient care delivery, we are also defining the future of the hospital pharmacy. The extraordinary range of programs and services we provide means more professional options for pharmacists. We also offer an ASHP-accredited residency program that provides training in medicine, critical care, surgery, ambulatory care and administration. The Pediatric Staff Pharmacist performs a range of functions that include, but are not limited to: medication order evaluation and verification, performance of medication dosing and therapy monitoring under approved protocols, application of safe medication use practices in a variety of patient populations, provision of drug information and education to various healthcare disciplines and patients, support of clinical research, supervision of pharmacy technicians/ interns and provision of drug distribution in an accurate and timely manner.

Job Qualifications
Must have completed residency in American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), Residency in Pediatrics preferred. Inpatient hospital pharmacist experience required California Pharmacist license required Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and professional staff Ability to set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision Ability to read and understand and interpret current scientific literature Ability to effectively communicate orally on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and to persuade others to adopt a specific opinion or action Knowledge of and ability to perform age specific and disease specific pharmacokinetic calculations Ability to compound intravenous admixtures and other sterile products such as ophthalmic preparations and intrathecal injections according to acceptable standards of aseptic technique
