Job Description

Job Duties
Become one of the esteemed Clinical Laboratory Scientists at UCLA Health! Our UCLA Santa Monica Blood Bank is currently seeking a full-time Senior-level CLS with experience in automated and manual testing, coordination of quality control and assurance and proficiency testing activities. This individual will coordinate compliance issues including staff competency assessments and identification of training needs as it applies to staff at the Blood Bank. The Sr. CLS will provide technical expertise and guidance to establish compliance with all of the regulatory guidelines as they apply to the department. This individual will be a team player who is also comfortable performing bench work in the Blood Bank as needed and required by the Sr. Supervisor.

Job Qualifications
A current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License, SBB preferred. Four years of recent experience in Blood Bank testing. The individual must have knowledge of immunohematology testing, blood product preparation and administration, and how blood bank tests and blood products can support diagnosis and treatment of patients in order to interact with physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare personnel. The incumbent is required to have an academic background, practical experience, and teaching ability in blood bank, as well as leadership skills in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the work of others. The incumbent needs to anticipate and respond to customer service expectations of the Health System and the Clinical Laboratories. Must have current knowledge of AABB, FDA, CAP, JCAHO, California State, CLIA, CLSI and Cal OSHA guidelines and regulations for blood bank laboratories.
