Job Duties
Reporting to the Asst. Director of Real Estate/Planning, Design & Construction, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing all of UCLA Health System design and construction projects and construction services provided by outside contractors; UCLA Capital Programs; and UCLA Campus Facilities. Manage multiple construction projects occurring throughout the multiple hospital UCLA Health System. Detailed knowledge of all aspects of building systems and codes sufficient to plan, direct and manage projects, evaluate progress and ensure that craftwork meets stated and required standards. Working knowledge of construction trade practices and safety requirements sufficient to manage all phases of project planning, construction and renovation. Manage the process of multi-craft estimates, work scopes, budget and schedules. Manage project related delays or disruptions and bring to closure within stated timeframes and guidelines. Proven demonstrated working knowledge of technical building systems incorporating sophisticated designs. Skill in managing all administrative and technical aspects of construction and alterations projects in a medical healthcare environment. Knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHPD Administrative Code, applicable NFPA Codes, and California Building Codes as applied to ongoing planning, alteration, and renovation projects. Mathematical and accounting skills sufficient to prepare and monitor budgets. Ability to exercise sound time-management skills, control projects and work proactively to mitigate complications that may jeopardize project productivity. Proven ability to maintain equanimity in the face resistance or indifference with regards to project planning and technical building systems. Demonstrated skill in using a PC with related software including MSOffice, CAD, Access, Excel, Word, etc. Proven ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting to obtain or convey accurate and correct information. Skill in long and short term planning. Analytical ability to problem solve with permanent and temporary solutions under adversity, including times of crises. Knowledge of acute inpatient, outpatient and clinic healthcare patient needs.

Job Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's Degree and demonstrated five years professional experience in healthcare architecture, engineering or construction. Master's Degree preferred. Experience with design development projects. Experience with multiphase or specialty construction projects. Experience with large-scale relocation activities. Exercise independent technical judgment using knowledge of architectural and construction industry theory and practice. Ability to read and understand legal and technical documents. Ability to develop schematic drawings from client-provided information. Working knowledge of building codes, UCLA standards and handicapped access regulations. Working knowledge of hospital projects, the California Building Code, Title 22, and the requirements of OSHPD. Ability to organize, facilitate, and expedite the work of others. Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures to define the objective. Judgment and prioritization skills regarding diverse client needs, level of quality, completeness, clarity and accuracy. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and service delivery attitude toward clients. Build and participate effectively with a team, collaborating with co-workers. Set task priorities and manage task schedules. Perform effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions. Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access. Working knowledge of CAD drawing programs and architectural design application programs.
