Job Description

Job Duties
Preform cardiovascular surgical procedures on small animals. Candidate should have extensive experience in performing microsurgical procedures such as cardiac ischemia-reperfusion, permanent ligation and transverse aortic constriction. Analysis of cardiac function by echocardiography is also necessary. The successful candidate should be able to work well as a part of a team, be organized, facile with computers, and have good communication skills. Additional responsibilities include ordering supplies, maintaining laboratory and equipment.

Job Qualifications
Ability to perform microsurgery on small animals/rodents Ability to perform invasive and non invasive measurements of cardiac function. BS in Molecular Biology or related field strongly preferred. Excellent skills in molecular biology, cell biology, and tissue culture techniques. Good work ethics, strong communication skills, honesty, and ability to work well with minimum supervision or as a part of a group. General knowledge of lipid metabolism and genetics. Experience using basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, CO2 incubators, spectrophotometer, PCR machines, pH meter, balances, plate reader, light and fluorescence microscopes, gel documentation) and familiar with both PC and Apple computer systems and software programs (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Understanding of University procedures and policies for working with biohazard, radioactive and chemicals, and their disposal. General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents. Skills with animal genotyping .Experience in writing and maintaining animal protocols and biosafety requirements.
