Job Description

Job Duties
The Mammography technologist will produce diagnostic images of the breast utilizing a variety of mammography and or ultrasound equipment. Duties include patient education prior to the examination frequent interaction with the patient during the exam; preparation of needed supplies and equipment set up; assist in performing sterile technique procedures as required; follow established quality assurance procedures; maintain patient dignity and confidentiality. Practice sterile techniques maintain aseptic conditions and use universal precautions at all times. Perform first aid on patients until further assistance can be obtained to maintain patient's health. Exercise strict patient confidentiality. Monitor patient's comfort while in the department. Demonstrate a professional attitude by being courteous towards patients, co-workers, and physicians. Coordinate exams with other services as needed. Coordinate transfer of patient to the observation area as needed. Maintain accurate up-to-date records of procedures performed. Ensure Radiology requisitions are properly completed. Maintain accurate record of all supplies used and initiate orders to maintain supply par levels. Comply with Medical Center health and infection control policies. Will float between UCLA Heath Breast Imaging Centers and participate in rotating shifts as needed. Mammography technologist are expected to possess the skills to perform digital mammography; graduate of a Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the American Medical Association; RDMS license is required; one to two years' experience in Breast Imaging preferred.

Job Qualifications
Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the American Medical Association; RDMS license is required; one to two years' experience in Breast Imaging preferred. Sound knowledge of Breast Imaging positioning and image acquisition. Ability to operate Selenia Digital systems, Selenia Dimensions, Lorad Multicare system, Trident Specimen system and Phillips iU22 and EPIQ scanner. Knowledge of appropriate technique selection for mammograms and transducer selection for breast ultrasounds. Knowledge of sterile techniques, maintain aseptic conditions and use universal precautions. Perform basic first aid on patients when required until further assistance can be obtained to maintain patient's health. Familiar with RIS and PACS operation.
