Job Description

Job Duties
Under direction of the laboratory manager and Principle Investigator, the employee will perform specialized laboratory procedure in cellular immunology and virology. The incumbent will perform molecular biology and immunology experiments in the study of the cellular immune response in rejection following solid organ transplantation as well as in HIV-1 infection, and analyze/manage any and all data produced. Also, the employee will maintain basic functions of the laboratory including maintenance of equipment for tissue culture (incubators, centrifuges, freezers, liquid nitrogen) and ordering/stocking of supplies (disposables, medium, radio isotypes, cell lines). As needed, she/he will also participate in the enrollment of human study subjects and the retrieval and processing of human samples. Additionally, she/he will perform any related literature searches, organize data for easy access, learn and develop any new laboratory procedures and techniques, and perform any additional special projects assigned by the Principle Investigator.

Job Qualifications
Ability to work effectively within a laboratory group; Working knowledge of personal computer operation, including MS Word and MS Excel software programs Preferred: BS degree in a biological science; Tissue culture experience; Ability to run experiments designed by the Principle Investigator with guidance from the laboratory manager; Ability to understand technical journals, instruction manuals, scientific texts, and other laboratory-related materials.
