Job Description

Job Duties
Provide space analysis, space planning, interior design, working drawings, furniture specifications, project management and coordination of consultant and vendor teams, consultation with and presentation to users, coordination of large scale and small scale relocation projects. Manage design, special project and construction project accounts, technical consultants, product quality scope and code compliance review, budgets and schedules to project completion. Prepare space plans and working drawings. Prepare construction documents for necessary per regulatory agency approvals. Prepare materials to be used for presentation to clients. Formulate and develop the project furniture program by meeting with clients, vendors and manufacturers. Coordinate physical relocation planning with outside vendors, Facilities Management, CTS, MITS and Capital Programs. Create and track working drawings UCLA Health System projects. Work with departmental end users in the development of concept drawings for space utilization. Responsible to work these drawings, as required, through to administration approval. Coordinate, as required, for the full architectural and engineering drawing development and assist these projects through to project completion. Prepares and manage FF&E lists and coordinate procurement and installation. Makes requisition drawings and bills of material. Prepares sketches for furniture, alterations and room arrangements. Serves as staff specialist on assigned areas of architectural information, such as, interior design or medical equipment. Manage design teams, construction contractors and property managers as directed by the Director of Master Planning, Design & Construction, and Real Estate.

Job Qualifications
Detailed knowledge of all aspects of building systems and codes sufficient to plan, direct and manage projects, evaluate progress and ensure that craftwork meets stated and required standards. Working knowledge of construction trade practices and safety requirements sufficient to manage all phases of project planning, construction and renovation. Proven demonstrated working knowledge of technical building systems incorporating sophisticated designs. Skill in managing all administrative and technical aspects of construction and alterations projects in a medical healthcare environment. Knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHPD Administrative Code, applicable NFPA Codes, and California Building Codes as applied to ongoing planning, alteration, and renovation projects. Mathematical and accounting skills sufficient to prepare and monitor budgets. Ability to exercise sound time-management skills, control projects and work proactively to mitigate complications that may jeopardize project productivity. Proven ability to maintain equanimity in the face resistance or indifference with regards to project planning and technical building systems. Demonstrated skill in using a PC with related software including MSOffice, CAD, Access, Excel, Word, etc. Proven ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting to obtain or convey accurate and correct information. Skill in long and short term planning. Analytical ability to problem solve with permanent and temporary solutions under adversity, including times of crises. Knowledge of acute inpatient, outpatient and clinic healthcare patient needs.
