Job Duties
Primary duties of the Programmer Analyst are to develop, program, build and implement websites for the Department of Medicine including, but not limited to departmental websites, DOM-TV, and other web-based applications to support departmental needs. In addition, the Programmer Analyst will be responsible for developing a web based portal using new and existing technologies with the goal of improving networking between faculty. The primary users for these websites will include patients, faculty, students, and the UCLA Health community at large. Understanding of web security is also necessary as, for example, certain lectures posted to the website will need to be securely stored and password-protected. The individual will be expected to maintain knowledge of current and emerging web application, video encoding, telepresence, and live streaming technologies and to provide all levels of support for matters related to our audiovisual systems and infrastructure. Creative thinking and the ability to expand our technologic capabilities are required as is expertise in web development technologies including but not limited to HTML, jQuery, and CSS. Experience with Ruby on Rails is desired.

Job Qualifications
Demonstrated skill in software development using the following languages and platforms: Ruby, Rails, Java, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and XML. Proficiency in management and maintaining Content Management Systems (CMS) like XOOPS, Joomla, WordPress, Drupal and other. Proficiency in software development using IDEs such as Eclipse and revision control software (Subversion, Git, Mercurial). Proficiency in creating web content using variety of tools. Understanding and experience with web server platforms including Linux, Apache, MySQL. Experience in administering Microsoft web server platforms including Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server and IIS. Experience administering relational databases such as MySQL, MS SQL Server or Oracle Database. Skill and experience building multilayered dynamic web sites. Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information and complete procedures. Skill in working as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues in and outside the lab. Skill in exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others to arrive at joint decisions, conclusions and/or solutions. Experience integrating web portals with third-party API's and web services. Experience with LDAP and single-sign-on (SSO) integration. Superior communication skills and ability to work well with physicians, IT staff, and non-technical staff. Superior organizational skills. Strong customer service orientation. Skill in using Microsoft Office, Project, Visio. Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are: changes in work scope, workload, changes in personnel, assignment, pressures of deadlines, competing requirements.Skill in working independently and following through on assignments. Skill in listening perceptively and conveying awareness.
