Job Duties
A Research Technician is needed for The X. William Yang Lab to be a member of a collaborative research team to study the pathogenesis of Huntington's disease (HD). She/he will work on a project to study novel molecular targets that may be involved in HD pathogenesis. Duties and Tasks: 1. Import mice from vendors/public repositories, managing mouse colonies (check cages daily to monitor the health of the mice, setup breeding, mouse weaning, design PCR primers and perform genotyping). 2. Conducting mouse behavioral tests and analyzing behavioral data. 3. Dissection of brain tissues from various brain regions and extract RNA. 4. Contribute to updating mouse colony database, generating progress reports, presentation and publications of results from the study. 5. Perform neuropathological studies, including brain sectioning, immunohistochemistry and taking images.

Job Qualifications
Required experience: strong expertise in mouse colony management with a minimum of two-year experience. B.A or B.S or higher degrees in relevant life sciences field, with neuroscience and mouse genetics field preferred. Other required experience includes working with genetically engineered mice, basic molecular biology and neuropathology skills. Preferred expertise includes extracting DNA and RNA from mouse tissues, performing PCR genotyping, performing immunostaining and taking images, mouse behavioral studies, data analyses and computer database management skills. The individual should be highly motivated and organized, pays attention to details and meticulous in record keeping, has a positive attitude toward peer and supervisors, has good verbal and written communication skills in English, and is a good team player who functions well in a dynamic and cooperating team environment.
